[Hong Kong] Australia Dairy Company

Breakfast Set at Australia Dairy Company
Popular breakfast set consisting of drink (iced milk tea), scrambled eggs with toast and macaroni soup at Australia Dairy Company (澳洲牛奶公司), Hong Kong, HK$28

This is a cha chen teng that serves western meals with Hong Kong influence. The food featured in this write up was from 2 visits. Yes, it was so good we just had to return within the same trip (which is a rarity when we are at HK). This is one of the most delicious breakfast places we visited in HK with possibly the world’s best scrambled eggs, along with their delectable choice of toasts and assorted teas. The name of this cafe itself is an enigma. I never thought of finding out its origin until I sat down to write this review, so it’s another excuse to visit again the next time we return to HK so that we can ask the staff next time.

Long Queue at Australia Dairy Company, Hong Kong
Long queue on a weekend morning

Don’t worry about the long queue. People are assigned shared tables and generally finish their meal quickly. Although there were at least 30 people in front of us, we waited for only about 15 minutes before we got a seat. Go during weekdays off typical breakfast hours (e.g. 10am or later) if you want a shorter queue.

Australia Dairy Company Set Menu
Value-for-money daily set menus

Breakfast set for HKD26 from 7.30 am to 12 noon. Lunch set for HKD30 from 12 noon to 11pm. Quick meal set available all day. Cold drinks are an additional HKD2.

Scrambled Eggs with Toast
Toast with Butter & Scrambled Eggs 多士炒蛋

Quite possibly the best scrambled eggs we ever had! Edging out even Gordon Ramsay’s “perfect scrambled eggs”. It may not look like much but that soft fluffy egg mixture with velvety texture packs a terrific mouthwatering punch! You can choose fried eggs instead of scrambled eggs but most people ordered the latter.

Macaroni Soup
Macaroni & Ham in Chicken Soup 火腿通粉

The chicken soup was tasty, simple and comforting.

Iced Milk Tea
Iced Milk Tea 凍奶茶

No breakfast is complete without a traditional milk tea. Goes well with the meal.

Kowloon Dairy Milk
Kowloon Dairy Fresh Milk 維記鲜奶

The cute milk bottles neatly lined up at the window were basically beckoning us so we had to order one to try. Very fresh since they are bottled at a local dairy farm.

Yun Yong Milk Tea

This is the coffee and tea mix. It came in a cocktail shaker since it was cold.

Iced Lemon Tea

Small refreshing glass. Generous with the lemon. Typically we only get a single thin slice with a tall glass in Singapore.

Toast with Condensed Milk
Toast with Condensed Milk 多士煉奶 HK$7

Your typical toast. Simple and nice. The condensed milk imparted a fragrant and sweet taste to the bread.

French Toast with Syrup & Butter
French Toast served with Syrup & Butter 西多士 HK$17

Delightful and filling. It was made just soft enough but contained a satisfying bite.

Egg White Milk Custard
Steamed Egg White & Milk Custard 蛋白燉鮮奶 HK$20

Their own version of the steamed milk custard. Worth a try but I prefer the version from Yee Shun Milk Company a little more.

Milk Custard
Steamed Egg Custard 杏汁燉蛋 HK$20

I remember this tasted a little strange to me. Not sure what to make of it. Perhaps because it was chilled so the flavour did not really make an impact.

I love their scrambled eggs too! One of the best I have ever tasted!

And, we wanted to order the macaroni, but we had problems communicating in cantonese and got spaghetti instead :(

oh dear… but at least you tried the spaghetti before, I have not tried that. Next time you can request for English menu, comes with Chinese translation, and prices are still the same :)

Beautiful photos! (How you do you still manage to take professional looking ones even at restaurants? Whenever I try they just come out dark and grainy. :P It’s nice to read about what you did (and what you ate of course. haha!) on your trip! Very interesting types of food.

hehe thanks for your kind words, you know that I’m in awe of your photography skills. I’m using my lumix gf1 that I was telling you about, and I just love the fact that I don’t have to lug my bulky dslr when I travel. It helps that they is sufficient light (day time) in the shop when I took these photos, so that’s half the battle won :p

Yes, this is the famous outlet in HK that serves scrambled eggs.
Been there during my trip and definitely will be back again..
Thumbs up!! I really wonder how they can whip such juicy and delicate eggs off the pan

Never fail to visit the Austrlia Dairy Company when in Hong Kong.
Had been there 3 or 4 times.
I should said that their scrambled eggs are the best and not forgetting the spaghetti in soup and the toast.
Don’t go there during CNY as they will be close for about a week.
Will be going there for breakfast agin this coming June.
