Bosch Styline MUM54230 Kitchen Machine

My Bosch Styline MUM54230 Kitchen Machine in Action
The Bosch Styline MUM54230 is an all-in-one kitchen helper (900 watts mixer, blender, slicer and citrus press). You can switch to a different appliance via its multi-arm tool and attachments. I received a complimentary set from Bosch (as I will be writing a couple of recipes for them) and I took the opportunity to post a review of the features in this product. Please note that this is not a paid review.

1) The mixer comes with dough hook, beater (shown above) and whisking attachments along with a 3.9 l capacity stainless steel bowl. There are 7 speed settings with pulse function. The construction is sturdy, the mixer did not shift during the mixing process, and my cupcake batter was evenly mixed.

2) Food blender attachment (pictured above) – I am making pesto by the way.

3) The slicer attachment (pictured above) comes with 3 slicing discs – I tested out the slicing functions with a carrot.

3a) Thinly sliced carrots using the slicing disc.

3b) Finely grated carrot using the grating disc.

3c) Finely shredded carrots using the shredding disc.

4) I tested the citrus press with a lemon. It basically squeezed the life out of the lemon, all I have to do is to hold the lemon firmly. The acidic lemon juice did not corrode the plastic and the seeds were filtered. I am so using this every time I am making lemonade.

Juice squeezed from 1 lemon using citrus press attachment.
Summary
I love the chic modern design and the space-saving capability as it combines many kitchen appliances in one machine. It took me some practice to switch quickly from one attachment to the other, but it was a breeze once I got the hang of it. I tested all the features and they worked well for my cooking needs. The appliance will not start if the accessories are incorrectly attached – a really important safety feature I am glad it has.

Quite impressive!
wow! such a gem, especially with the carrots, no more tedious slicing!
Thanks for the very informative review! Just one quick question. Is the blade of the blender detachable? Thanks in advance
Hi Winnie, the blender blade is not detachable.
Thanks wiffy! Well do you find it difficult to clean the blender then?
It’s ok to me – no more difficult than cleaning any other blender.
Can the blender crush ice?
It’s mentioned in the catalogue that it can crush ice cubes, but I have not tried it myself.
If you want to crush cookies, for example oreo cookies or digestive biscuits, which type of slicer do you use? I have seen people (on YouTube) crushed biscuits or made pie crust dough using the normal blade in a food processor. Is it possible for MUM5?
Personally I will use the blender attachment for it, it shouldn’t be a problem for MUM5 though I have not tried before.
Thx for the review!!
I’ve been trying to decide whether to buy a Bosch Mum54230 or Mum52110 or a Kitchen Aid.
I read so many different reviews & many of them recommend the Bosch!
So between the 2 Mum5 series I wasn’t sure what to buy…
Your review helped me to make the final decision…yeah!!!!!!
Super thx!!!
