Seen at Chatuchuk Market, Bangkok.
Can you tell which is real, and which is not?

Answer::
The pine corn and durian are the real deal… while the oranges are fake. Did you guessed correctly? ;)
The Real Deal
Mini dried durians – how intriguing!
The cost? 5 baht a piece (US$0.15, S$0.20). Cheapy ^_^
More mini dried foods
Fakes!!
Don’t you think they make the most pretty versatile home decor pieces and the best food photography props? ;)

Huh? Those oranges are fake!!! But they look so real, so fresh… ha ha ha you’re very good with the camera, you can make the fake to look real!
Dried mini durians?? I wonder if it’s to be eaten?? The fake fruits really looks like the real deal. :D
Hope you enjoyed yourself in bangkok. I love the shopping at chatuchak. I wanna go again! :lol:
U r back!! YAy! Can’t wait to read more about your experience at bangkok.
That mini durians r very intriguing!!
i don’t care fake or not.Just looking at the durian make me drooling”sobbing”
Missed you! Had a good trip?
So, are you supposed to eat the dried durians or are they for decor? Your photos are great. More, more… :)
I’ll be in Bangkok in 2 weeks. Yay!
Welcome back!
Those fake fruits – I think there are “real” equivalents but made into other street snacks(thus not so real as well) – some sort like “Ang Ku Kueh” right? I’ve seen it before. Eg.. “Ang Ku Kueh” made into the shape of mini orange, mini apples?
Very cute.
Ning:: hee, it’s more like they already look quite realistic to begin with ;)
didally:: They are too small to be eaten I think … maybe they fell off prematurely … I wanna go again too!! :D
daphne:: Thanks girl ;)
beachlover:: hee the durians are real, just inedible ;) Aww there are no durians where you are?
Dee:: I had a fantastic time! They are just for decor … ah … I miss Bangkok already… so envious that you are going soon :D
tigerfish:: woah Ang Ku Kueh miniatures … must be really cute :wink:
I was thinking that the oranges looked too perfect.
Wow, mini durians – I wonder if they picked them specifically for decorations or were these knocked off to give the other fruit more room to grow. Did they have the same durian smell?
Coconut ice-cream, oh yum! And you were right, what a great photography props!
Great illusion! But here’s a question — do mini durian smell any less foul than full-sized ones??!
i loveeeee bangkok and its many markets….i just couldn’t get enough!
Nate:: I think the mini durians are premature babies which dropped off the trees… and they dry them to sell as ornaments. These dried foods have absolutely no smell at all!! :D
LCOM:: hi5! ;)
Lydia:: These are dried, and have absolutely no smell at all … I’m pretty adverse to durian’s smell myself ;)
rita:: meee tooooooo, I want to go back already! :O
Hmmm, I don’t know if it’s just me but that was easy. I could tell by the way the light shined on the apples and oranges. Not to mention, it’d be much harder to make a fake durian than it would a fake orange!
