[Taipei] Chia Te Bakery’s Pineapple Cakes

Chia Te Pineapple Pastry

Chia Te (佳德) is an extremely popular bakery, most famous for its pineapple pastry/pineapple cake/huang li su (鳳梨酥). It has a long history since 1975. The one and only outlet in Taiwan is located in Taipei city and it is always crowded with excited customers.

Trays of pineapple pastries to pick from. Each pineapple pastry, individually wrapped, cost NT$27 each. There are different flavours such as cranberry but the most popular type is still the original pineapple pastry.

These boxes, at no additional charge, can hold 6 pineapple pastries. Larger boxes are also available. The expiry date for the pineapple pastry is about 40 days.

The mildly sweet filling is slightly moist and the density just right. The crust is soft, not flaky and does not overwhelm the filling when you bite into it. It is truly the best pineapple pastry we have tasted and superior to the one made by its rival, Li Yi (李儀餅店). I verified this personally though a blind-fold test!

Chia Te Sun Cakes
Besides pineapple pastries, the bakery also sells a variety of other confectioneries. Here’s a sun cake (太陽餅) but in this case, we found the taste inferior to its rival brand, Li Yi (李儀餅店). I also verified this through a blind-fold test!

    Hi,
Can you add a description to get down at 三民路口 bus stop instead of 5min bus ride?

I followed your web to get to chiate..I think indicating this bus stop will be really helpful to the rest of ppl
