I was recently being treated (lucky me!) to Teochew City Seafood Restaurant and the meal was fantabulous … At first, I was hesitant to go because I wasn’t really impressed with the food when I went there over the Chinese New Year Period (food was mostly bland, and the place was super noisy). This time round, however, the quality and taste is much, much better. Maybe the head chef wasn’t around during the CNY period?

Here are some of the good food we enjoyed. I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking ;)

Teochew City
Braised Goose.
There are slices of braised tofu beneath the goose slices. I really like this dish.

Teochew City
Lobster (Chef’s Recommendation).
This wasn’t on the menu but it was highly recommended by the staff. At first, we were quite surprised when it arrived on the table to see that it was all chopped up and not a whole lobster – however it turns out to be really nice, juicy and meaty :)~

Teochew City
Hong Kong Kailan with Garlic.

L: Ee-fu noodles (longevity noodles)
R:
Abalone with braised goose feet & broccoli.
Abalone + goose feet = Weird combination? The goose feet tastes like ‘feng jiao’, much bigger in size. I like the broth that the abalone is cooked in.

Teochew City
Claypot Shark’s Fin Soup.
I don’t usually eat Shark’s Fin Soup but my host insist I take it =x Well it turns out to be really tasty =x

Teochew City

The shark’s fin soup comes with a lot of goodies – such as fish maw, prawns and fresh white scallops. It was a flavourful bowl!

We also ordered some desserts but they were quite forgettable. Overall the food standard is pretty good though you must be prepared to pay if you want fancy stuff like shark’s fin, lobster and abalone (the bill comes out to about S$120 per person for the food we had). They serve each diner with a small cup of concentrated kung-fu-cha (tie guan yin) before and after eating. I think the tea is really potent because after pigging out, I felt that it has cleansed away most of the fats (am I deluding myself?). It also kept me up late into the night … thinking about the nice dinner I had… :P

I think I will enjoy the braised goose meat. We are alike! I like to think that I can rinse away the fats with chinese tea, and makes me feel less guilty for pigging out. :o
