[Hong Kong] Egg Tarts at Tai Cheong Bakery

Egg Tarts at Tai Cheong Bakery, Hong Kong
Egg Tarts at Tai Cheong Bakery

Tai Cheong Bakery is where you can buy the most famous egg tarts in Hong Kong. This is a favourite of ex-British governor Chris Patten and the difference in taste (according to our guidebook Hong Kong Tram Guide) is due to the use of almond meal instead of regular flour. The bakery was packed with people when we visited. The bakery is situated in Central, a very hilly area so these are good snacks to keep you going. :) The egg tarts were so hot when we bought them that wiffy could barely hold one in her hand. Their egg tarts has an extremely rich yellow hue which is a prelude to its rich taste. Just look at the yummy creamy yellow custard. We couldn’t decide whether we like Tai Cheong’s shortbread crust or Honolulu Coffee Shop‘s flaky version more – they are both egg tarts perfection in their own ways.

Tai Cheong Bakery - Box of egg tarts
Buy a minimum of 6 egg tarts and you will get this pretty box which makes it a very presentable gift.
